Happy New Year, everyone!
Today I learned about “ghetto” fashion. Apparently the style of wearing your pants below the waist is an imitation of prison “fashion”- prisoners are not given belts because it is feared that they might hang themselves, and the sagging waistline is a result of this. It makes perfect sense, of course. I wonder how I didn’t figure that out before.
Today I learned that my cousin has changed- a lot. Maybe it was going to war. Maybe it was moving out and getting engaged. Maybe he just got older. Or maybe it was because I changed- maybe I became less difficult to talk to. Maybe it was all of the above.
But we’re talking again and he gave me his phone number, and suggested coming to visit me and meeting my boyfriend. I’m so happy we’re talking again. I love him so much.
Today I learned that my cousin had been hit by a roadside bomb while in Iraq. I wish we had known about this before. He’s been back for months. Maybe a year. I believe he was awarded the Purple Heart for it, too..
Today I learned that the police and the legal system are far more disgusting than I had previously believed. Please see this link for why.
Today I learned that geese either throw oranges or lay them as eggs.
This will be explained later. If I fail to uphold my end of this bargain, remind me.
Today I learned, or rather realized, that the chocolates in Advent calenders are the same shapes every single year, in every single calender regardless of brand. This makes me sad.
